CT scan of chest, abdomen and pelvis showed generalized extensive subcutaneous emphysema with pneumomediastinumand and small penumoperitoneum. The patient was discharged on the next day, free of any clinical evidence of a complication.On the 8th postoperative day, the patient presented with generalized subcutaneous emphysema.
Thus, it is important that physicians involved in the postoperative treatment of these patients be familiar with these complications, their natural history, and their management CASE SUMMARY We are presenting a 61-year-old woman with history of granulomatous inflammatory bowel disease, admitted for laparoscopic hernia repair.
